Some of our favorite swimming spots along Highway 36 in Oregon include:
Highway 36 Pullouts along the Siuslaw River: There are many unmarked pullouts along the Siuslaw River that hide amazing swimming holes. Be sure you aren’t entering private property and respect all signage.
Lake Creek Falls: This spot offers a small parking lot with a trailhead across the highway. It is located between Mapleton and Junction City on Hwy 36 and features swimming holes with beautiful blue water and some cliffs for jumping. There is also a 25 ft waterfall at Lake Creek Falls, which is an excellent place for swimming and cooling off.
Triangle Lake Rock Slides: This location is about a mile west of the small town of Triangle Lake, or approximately 26 miles east of the junction of Highways 126 and 36 in Mapleton. It provides a natural rock water slide, multiple swimming hole areas, and multiple waterfalls. The area is suitable for cliff jumping, and there are large boulders and rocks to spread out and enjoy the sunshine. The creek has several large pools, and the sliding rock is fun for all ages.
Please remember to respect the natural environment and pack out what you pack in to help preserve these areas for future visitors.
