The bridge underwent significant renovations in the 1980s, including the replacement of the wood floor with concrete slabs. It is located on Nelson Mountain Rd, just off Hwy 36, near the small community of Greenleaf.

The Wildcat Creek Covered Bridge, also known as Wild Cat Bridge or Austa Bridge, is located just a short distance from Highway 126. Built in 1925 as part of Stagecoach Road, the original route to the coast, it spans Wildcat Creek for 75 feet. The bridge was bypassed in the 1930s by the Linslaw Tunnel and the Mapleton Bridge, giving it a quiet existence off of OR 126. The bridge features a Howe single truss design and includes a window facing the confluence of the Wildcat Creek and the Siuslaw River, offering picturesque views.
